Feldenkrais Method vs.Other Modalities:

While many forms of  'body therapy' focus on muscular conditioning like strengthening, stretching & lengthening, the Feldenkrais Method works directly with one’s nervous system to clarify one’s habitual movement patterns and update them for more efficient self-use, ease and comfortable movement. The Feldenkrais Method promotes intrinsic neuro-muscular learning and self-awareness that improves organization of your whole self.

The Feldenkrais Method® of Somatic Education is based on principles of physics, biomechanics, and an empirical understanding of learning and human development. Moshe Feldenkrais said, “We move according to our perceived self-image.”

 

The focus is on gentle movements and directed attention, helping people learn new and more effective ways of living the life they want. Students can increase their ease and range of motion, improve flexibility and coordination, and rediscover an innate capacity for graceful, efficient movement.
